[ around 0945, an audio announcement will ask people to check on their text network posts as soon as they are able. ]

Hello, everyone! I have some requests from you all. I know we have set lists for runs but we need more supplies than usual and it would be appreciated if residents would be willing to shoulder some extra supply runs so that we can stock up. The reason being that we have a couple of groups heading off on special missions soon that will need supplies and we need to send them off fully stocked if we expect them to return to us whole and healthy.

One group is Carey's, headed out toward Boyle Heights for tech supplies. Those are what keep us running and are an integral part of our security and infrastructure, so we need to make sure they're ready to go. Carey's heading this one, so you can ask him what they'll need to keep them going on the road other than the usual food, water, and ammunition.

The other is Jamie's group that is going out toward the beaches, clearing the freeway to make it safer. If we're going to have a clear shot to the ocean and a steady supply of fish, we need this crew armed and ready. I'm not sure who's heading this expedition yet, but whoever it is will have their hands full enough so let's make it easier on them. Keep to the usual for now on this one.

My point is, here in Aqora we try to be a community and I know so many of you are brought here against your will but we appreciate any amount of help you could possibly offer while you're here. You're all valuable members of our community and we want to keep you safe and include you. Jamie usually organizes supply runs but he's so busy that I thought I'd try to give it a jump start. There's never a guarantee that expeditions like this will work, but doing everything we can to help them will tip the odds in our favor at least a little bit.

i need 2 things from you

1. as most of you should be aware, kei and i have been working on finding a cure for the virus. we're in need of more test subjects aka zombies. jags will be overseeing this, so, if you're interested in helping out, you'll be coordinating all hunts and captures with him. we need about 2 for now.

and before anyone asks, we're not getting the zombies from the parking structures because there is no way we're compromising the safety of the settlement by opening the doors there.

2. i know jags has been concentrating his efforts on exploring up north, but i think we're going to benefit if we start expanding to the east too. who would be interested in going to boyle heights with me? i want to eventually set a course for us towards east l.a. but i need the areas leading up to there assessed for their risk levels first.

we're going to be setting out tomorrow morning at 7. once we reach boyle heights, we'll be splitting up into pairs to cover more grounds. remember to memorize routes. you can find maps in the security building.

if you have questions, you can ask them. i'm sure kei and jags can cover the first part. i'll cover the latter.

Zombies aren't new to me. Really, they've never been new to me. It's one of those things we learned about growing up. The sky is blue, one plus one equals two, and when someone dies they're getting up and trying to eat you unless you put a bullet in their head.

It's not like this, though. The world changed irreparably, but it didn't end. We still have internet and politics and all the trappings of society, for better or worse. Most people never even see a zombie in person. Most people barely see other humans in person.

I'm telling you this for two reasons: the first is that I'm curious. Who else here is from a world with undead? I've noticed several ways the disease here differs from my own Kellis-Amberlee. I want to know what other variations there are.

The second reason is that I want you to know it's possible. The Rising happened 26 years ago. We adapted. If we did it there, you can do it here.

Don't give up.

[ at around 0900, your phone will beep with an audio message from the network. over the line will come the voice of kei akiyama, the community's doctor. ]

Hello Aqora. After yesterday's incident, I'd like to take this time to remind everyone of one of our most important rules. That rule is: do not go in the parking structures. Do not go up them, do not go down them. Do not try to pass or dismantle the barricades. They are all guarded by SB members and you should not try to pass them by.

Any violations that involve being caught will result in immediate imprisonment. Violations that involve a bite will result in what happened yesterday being repeated. I apologize for being so stern but this is strictly for your safety and the safety of those around you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me with them.

Have a good day, everyone.

i want to hear about what you like to do and what you've done that's special for you alone and what you just did for the sake of it

i don't want to bug supplies with this, so i'll ask here: does anyone have any black scrap leather? i'll trade you for it, i just need to make some repairs to a coat and it's worse off than i anticipated.

[ first, there's an audio callout through the walkies. it crackles a little but is still perfectly audible. ]

Citizens of Aqora, please check your phones for a network announcement. It's very important.

[ when the network is checked, there's a new community-wide post. ]

To our newcomers: hello, my name is Morna Phelps. I'm sorry for what happened to you and that you're stuck here now but there's nothing that can be done for it yet. Our technical and science teams are trying to figure out what brought you here and why, but we haven't made any progress. I promise we're doing the best we can. We're going to try and help you out as well as we can in the meantime. We have a doctor, an engineer, a security team, and supplies. If you need medical attention or have medical knowledge you'll need to go see Kei. If you have any engineering expertise you'll want to go see Carey; he needs all the capable hands he can get. If you have security experience or experience making supply runs in places like this, then go see Jags. He'll get you sorted out. If you need any amenities at all, come see me. We have clothing, shoes, food, water. We'll get you set up in lodgings and go from there; we hope to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. There's no cost, we just ask that you help keep the community running.

The pamphlet you received should cover everything we have that we can tell you and has a map that should help you find your way around. if you have any questions, please ask me.

To our runners: we mostly need the usual, but we need batteries more than ever and we also need more seeds and if possible, plants to transplant to the farming areas. We also need a larger team to make a trip to the reservoir. Remember to take a partner with you and CHECK IN with the gates when you leave and when you return. Sign your name on the paper, it isn't difficult.

A current update on the safety situation: walls are holding, gates are safe. No threat inside the walls. Minimal threat close by. Threat level, as always, rises exponentially the further one gets from Aqora.

Thank you everyone for your time. This is Morna, signing off.
